The Birthday Girl and Me

I should tell you the menu. We had coffee and sweet tea, corn on the cob, fried chicken, barbequed ribs, potato salad, green beans with bacon crumbles, corn bread, green salad, peach pie, blueberry cobbler, apple cobler, bread pudding and three kinds of pinto bean dishes. I almost thought I was in Texas, but then I looked outside where it was snowing hard. Oh, wait, that has been happening in Texas, hasn't it? ;-)
Thank you, commenters for your good wishes.

Menus like that are why I gained 20 pounds when I lived in TX. But the food is sooooo good. :)

LOVE your pictures, S.O.! It's wonderful to see your mother smiling. Who WOULDN'T have loved being the guest of honor at such a delightful party?? Texas fare, cake, and CHOCOLATE??? Now that's something to give a big "YEE-HAAAWW!" about!!

Yes, the snow HAS happened in Texas. Here in my neck of the woods, thankfully, we were finally dry and a lot warmer today.

Blessings to you and your dear mother, my sister!

Thanks, Cheesehead. Sometimes I don't feel like a good daughter, but I did okay today. Yep, Alex, you can't beat southern cooking! And yes, Iris, we did have fun...in fact my mother smiled more today than she has in weeks. I'm glad, and I hope the pictures help her to actually remember the day for a while. Psalmist, I thought of you several times today, and others of you who live in Texas or other southern places.

I like that picture too, M2P. And I'm glad you helped decorate -- especially the cactus -- and shared the day. You are so special to my mom and me too!

The menu for the party really had my mouth watering. The snow, well you can keep that. I'm perfectly content with the minor accumulations we've seen thus far this winter here in central Penna. And the pictures of the party, musicians and especially of you and your Mom - just fantastic! Isn't it just wonderful that she has been so blessed with not just 90 years here but to have a great daughter, such as you?
