Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you;
therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him.
Truly, O people in Zion, inhabitants of Jerusalem, you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when he hears it, he will answer you.

So he set off and went to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him.
Father God, have you been watching for your long-lost sons and daughters to come home? Awaken yearning for you. Strengthen those who turn toward home...show mercy to those who are not yet sure if it is possible to do so. Run towards those who come! Convince us of your unfailing love, no matter what we have done. Be quick to answer when people cry for help. May this be the day, patient God, when you satisfy your desire to be known the God who is gracious to ALL.
