Lenten Prayer #28: For God to be Revealed Through Answered Prayer
Psalm 65:2,5
You who answer prayer,
to you all people will come.
You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds,
God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas...
You, God, are the hope of people everywhere. People have always prayed and you have heard them and have sometimes answered with power and wisdom that was surprising. Hear us now as we ask you to surprise us as never before. Listen to the cries of desperate people as they cry to you for help! Hear us as we pray for our neighbors and our cities. As you answer, may those who pray become those who see you. And may those who see you pray and believe for even greater things!
Luke 19:37
When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen.
Lord Jesus, each of your miracles was in some way an answer to prayer. Continue to do the same today. Reveal yourself by answering prayers of people who may be far from you. Enable us to pray with empathy and faith. Show your kindness and power so that we can celebrate as your disciples did, with the same loud and unselfconscious joy!
