Count Your Many Blessings....name them one by one

I can hear my father's voice belting out that song in church. He's been gone for about 15 years, but I still miss him. It wasn't a song we sang at Thanksgiving at First Baptist. It was a song we sang about every third week. (Grinning....I grew very tired of that song...but now the memory of my dad singing it really does make me think of my blessings.)

This is a short update. I know some of you have been praying, because my mother is like a different person. She is being reasonable, relatively kind and courteous, and mostly clear in her thinking. There are still memory issues, to be sure, but she is almost like she was say three or four months ago. The moping and bitterness and anger are gone for now.

I know this may not last, and it is mysterious to me, but I'm so thankful for it. I am glad she will be able to enjoy our daughter's and son-in-law's visit. She has completed the baby blanket and will give it to them on Thanksgiving.

I have vacuumed the spare room, arranged a bouquet for the table, and chosen a fall-themed tablecloth and candles (a necessity at my house). The menu is planned and I'll soon head to the grocery store to spend way too much. The snow is gone, but it is cold. Things feel pretty normal 'round here for the moment.

Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Wow, glad to hear that your mom has had this improvement in mood. Hard to know if it is physical or emotional, which is chicken and which is egg.

It has to be hard to be in the time of life when one has only decline to look forward to.

Fortunately, those in the Family of God also look forward to the joyous heavenly reunion

Ooh- I remember that hymn from my Church of God days! I didn't realize I missed singing it until you mentioned it!

Blessed Thanksgiving to you and the rest of the "Owl" family!

We just sang that very hymn in Devotions today at work! I love it, mostly because of the harmonies.

So glad to hear your mom is better! There's been prayer in the "Singer" household for the "Owl" household in that regard.

Blessings to you and your family! You certainly have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!

So glad to hear your mother settled down before the kids come to visit.

This will be the last Thanksgiving before a new season of life (Grandma) begins! New memories to make, traditions to build -or- should I say new ones to pass traditions on to?

Without a doubt, this is my favorite holiday of the year. A time to review and reflect on the year just passed. An opportunity to humble ourselves in gratitude before God in recognition of the grace we are given to learn from our mistakes and to celebrate the gift of living our lives...

Oh, maginify the Lord with me! And let us exalt His name together!

Have a blessed Thankgiving! :0)

So, being protestant, evangelical, emergent, eglatarian, etc. You are going to ponder about me saying the rosary? Ha!

Thanks for your kind remarks on my blog. And yes,

Happy Thanksgiving.
