First Snow of the Season

My middle sister, Pauette, is visiting us. It has been almost two years since we've seen her, so we are catching up and reminiscing and all the stuff sisters do. I think this may be the last time she can visit our mother and have a sort of conversation. Last night we had thunder, lightening and sleet, and as the night progressed it turned into a heavy, wet snow. We awoke to a snowscape of wonderful beauty. Every twig was snow covered. We sipped coffee and watched the birds and squirrels at the feeder.

Below, we are about to hop in the car for a drive in the country. Ken snapped this picture of us in front of the house. It is a very short visit, sad to say. She will head home to Mississippi Monday morning. She didn't expect to see snow while she was here! I'm younger than her, but you wouldn't know it by our hair would you?

Yes that snow caught us by surprise. Sis and I ended up sleeping on the floor of our mom's new assisted living unit. This was an unexpected blessing for mom as she didn't have to be alone her first night there.

You and I have some parallels, don't we?

You should have seen the shot I almost got! It was from another angle, and the sun was hitting his feathers, so the red color was vividly apparent. Then he flew away, and when he came back just a few seconds later, the little sunshine had disappeared. I took it anyhow, hoping you could see he was red. Also during the interval when Mr. Cardinal flew up into the nearby apple tree, Mr. Squirrel stopped munching corn and mooned me instead. ;-)

Yes, I remember it well. Squirrel was eating corn on opposite side of red cardinal, would have been a beautiful picture. But its still very good. I love it personally
