Advent Week Three: Love ~ Day Four

Today's devotion is by guest blogger, Kris.

I Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Have you ever wondered at this verse? Have you ever thought, “Why is ‘love’ more important than faith or hope?” I think one reason love is “the greatest of these” is because love is forever.

When the time comes that we are called away to live eternally with Christ, love will be the only thing that remains. We will not need faith in heaven; what was once hidden from us will now be revealed. Hope will be a thing of earth and the past. We need not hope for Christ any longer as we will be fellowshipping with him continually. Love is eternal, and when we are in Heaven we will be surrounded by the perfect love described in verses 4-7 (what we talked about in yesterday’s devotion). The love of God will be like a blanket all around us in heaven. Heaven will be the proof of his love.

Not only that, but the people we have loved here on Earth, and those who have loved us in return, can still love us! Can you imagine being surrounded by people who love you always with no limitations? Imagine a moment when you felt great love. Now imagine that feeling a thousand times greater — and to feel that at all times. That is Heaven to me!

Jesus loves us with perfect love right now. Sometimes it is hard to believe or see or feel this love, but that is only because we are in a sinful world which causes a barrier between us and God. In eternity that barrier will be gone. We will feel his arms wrap around us and hear him say “Well done, good and faithful servant”.

Prayer: Lord, please help me to be aware of your love and to know that even here, when I am less than perfect, you love me. Keep the prize of heaven before my eyes, and bring the desire to share that love with others into my heart. Amen

IMO (actually crackpot opinion to some) Love is the physical force that created our universe. God is love, n'es pas? Someday soon quantum physicists are going to figure this out with mathematical formulations.

And I just love that picture!
(PS received the devotional book. It is beautiful! Thank you.)

Amen, and the greatest of these is Love. But for now being I am still on earth...hope seems to be very important and necessary in my life:)
